Most of them even conduct background searches to make sure that the person interested in renting out their place is credible and can pay. So, if you are one of those who is looking to rent an apartment then here are some simple tips that will help you get that apartment you like.

1. The most important thing to consider is your budget when renting an apartment. You should not spend more than 30% of your take-home salary. Because there are other things to consider such as bills and food. If you think that you will not be able to afford an apartment on your own then you should ask your friend to be your housemate.

2. Have your personal information prepared. Create a so-called “renter’s resume” include in this form your last five past and present addresses and your landlord’s contact number on each address. You would also want to include information regarding your present job and employer even a credit report will be great. Amenities can blow up your payment every month because the owner needs to maintain it.

6. So, if you already found the place you want to rent but it does not fit your budget then maybe you can negotiate a deal with the owner. Ask how you can lower the rent by maybe by not using any or few of the amenities. Or if it lacks several services then lowering the rent may be feasible.

7. Review the list properly. It will state how much is needed as down payment or deposit before moving in. It will also state your responsibilities as a renter. Take especial note about the payment method some will ask you to pay 6-months of rent up front.

It will also be great to deal directly with the owner so you have a feel on how they treat their boarders, are they considerate and that kind of stuff. If you already found the place you want to rent then work-up the deal immediately, do not take so long because remember that you are also in a competition.
